15 more granted bail

Coimbatore, Aug 9 (UNI) Special Court Judge K Uthirapathy today granted bail to 15 more convicted in the 1998 Coimbatore Serial Bomb Blasts case.

The Judge granted bail to the 15, who were found guilty of minor offences on personal surety. The bail applications of two persons would be heard on August 17. He examinated the bail applications of 28 convicted today.

So far 47 convicted were granted bail out of total 158.

Fifty-eight persons were killed and about 250 injured in a series of bomb explosions in the city on February 14, 1998. The bombs were timed to coincide with the visit of BJP Leader L K Advani, in connection with an election campaign. The damage to property in the blasts was estimated at Rs 4.37 crore.
