Guwahati, Aug 08 (UNI) Two persons were seriously injured when the ULFA struck Guwahati yet again, exploding an IED in the Hengerabari area, while another attack was averted in the neighbouring Morigaon district.

Police said the bomb was kept on a rickshaw near the PHE office in Hengerabari, barely two km from the main Dispur capital complex.

The blast injured two rickshaw pullers as a wall took the maximum impact of the bomb.

The bomb was part of the customary pre-Independence Day attack by the ULFA in the civilian location.

Since Monday last, this was the sixth incident of bombings in Assam, two of them were in the capital.

In another incident, an IED was found near a bank at Morigaon last night.

Police said the battery of the IED was damaged and so it did not explode.

According to intelligence source, the ULFA would continue to bomb Guwahati and other parts of Assam in their renewed offensive till August 15, as they had already announced the boycott of the Independence Day programme.
