Two drown in floods, one missing

Srikakulam, Aug 8 (UNI) Two people drowned and one was missing in floods in Vamsadhara river, even as five villages were marooned in Srikakulam district.

According to revenue officials here today, the flood situation was improving as the waters of Vamsadhara and Nagavali were receding.

The deceased were identified as V Mallesha (35) of Gottevanipalem village and K Sambhamurthy (40), a fisherman from Beettuvada village. The missing man hailed from Palakonda mandal in the district.

The officials said as many as 20,000 people were shifted to 40 relief camps opened in the five mandals of the district. Standing crops in about 30,000 acres were damaged in the floods.
