Magistrate orders to return ruby to its owner on Rs 10 lakh bond

Vadodara, Aug 8 (UNI) Magistrate J N Brahmbhatt today ordered to return the ruby to its rightful owner Samir Mohammad Sadiq Jagot of Rajkot after furnishing a bond of Rs 10 lakh.

It may be recalled that the ruby which belonged to Samir Jagot was given to three persons -- Darshan Thakkar, Mihir Thakkar (both brothers) and two others Balakrishna Patel and Jayanti Patelia -- for evaluation in December 2006. Thinking that the ruby is worth crores of rupees, Patelia killed the other three and disposed of their bodies in a field in Santrampur taluka in Panchmahals district.

After the rocovery of the bodies, Patelia handed over the ruby to Ahmedabad police after her arrest in February this year.

Incidentally, Jagot, one among the many, is on bail in the ruby murder case.
