Gurgaon bags Flag Day Rolling Trophy

Chandigarh, Aug 8 (UNI) Gurgaon district bagged the Flag Day Rolling Trophy by collecting the highest amount of donation on the Armed Forces Flag Day during the year 2005-06 and 2006-07.

Haryana Governor A R Kidwai and Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda presented the trophy to Commissioner, Gurgaon Division Rajiv Sharma on the occasion of 38th meeting of Haryana Rajya Sainik Board held here today.

The 'Jind Trophy' instituted by the Board for providing maximum employment to ex-servicemen and their dependents was bagged by Ambala district and the trophy was received by Deputy Commissioner R P Bhardwaj.

Leading ex-servicemen of each district of the state who rendered valuable service for the rehabilitation and welfare of ex-servicemen, war-widows and family of Serving Defence Personnel were also presented Sanad, Stick of honour and a sum of Rs 500 by the Haryana Governor and the Chief Minister.

Later, the amount of award was enhanced to Rs 2000 by the Board.

The Haryana governor announced that the awardees will get raised amount of Rs 2000 from today which was applauded by all.

It was informed in the meeting that Defence Colonies will be set up in the State at Rohtak, Bahadurgarh, Jhajjar, Jind, Hisar, Rewari, Narnaul and Dadri. Also, CSD canteens would be opened in all the districts so that no ex-servicemen have to travel for more than 47 km in the State.
