Foundation stone laid for hydro-electric project

Pathanamthitta, Aug 8 (UNI) Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh, MP today laid the foundation stone for the seven MW hydro-electric project at Allunkal in Chittar Panchayat here.

The project, being built by the Energy Development Company Limited (EDCL) of which Mr Amar Singh was the director, consisted of two generators of 3.5 MW capacity each.

It was expected to start trial run in the first week of December and commissioned by January.

The work on two turbines had been completed already.

A 'Sarvaiswarya Pooja' was also performed in which Ms Jaya Bachchan and Ms Jayaprada, MP participated.
