Congress workers rally against ULFA blast
Jorhat, Aug 8 (UNI) Thousands of Congress workers here today took out a procession to protest yesterday's blast by suspected ULFA militants in the town that killed three people, including a prominent leader of the National Students Union of India (NSUI).
The procession, led by Jorhat MLA Rana Goswami and Mariani MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi, traversed through the main thoroughfares of the town with the body of district NSUI leader Pranjal Gogoi.
An active party worker, hailing from the Nakachari area of Jorhat, the slain NSUI leader would be cremated this evening after party workers pay their tributes.
Gogoi and three others were killed and 16 others injured when the ULFA exploded a bomb in front of the main police station of Jorhat last evening.
Four policemen, including two sub inspectors, were among the injured.
After a long gap the ULFA has targeted Jorhat, which happens to be Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi's home district.
Another blast also took place yesterday in the Ganeshguri area of Guwahati which injured two people, including a woman.
