Call rates open steady at 6.10 per cent
Mumbai, Aug 8 (UNI) Call rates opened steady at 6.10 per cent today, against the previous close of 6.10-6.15 per cent.
Reserve bank, through the daily reverse repo window today accepted Rs 36,000 crore from the system.
Call rates are expected to remain stable in near term around 6.10-6.15 per cent levels in view of the tightened liquidity measures introduced by Reserve bank and central government, dealers said.
Meanwhile, Rupee underwent to major fluctuations today and tanked to a massive dip of 40.79/80 per dollar as compared to the previous close of 40.40/41 following the Tuesday's move of central governemnt tightening norms for corporates to borrow from overseas in order to check the liquidity in market.
However, Rupee recovered slightly by noon to trade at 40.57/58 per dollar, dealers added.
