Call rates close steady at 6.10 per cent

Mumbai, Aug 8 (UNI) Call money rates continued to be steady and ended at 6.10 percent as compared to the previous close of 6.10-6.15 percent.

According to dealers, call rates would continue to remain steady in coming sessions also as Reserve bank had removed the cap of Rs 3,000 crore on the daily reverse repo LAF window.

Central bank, through its reverse repo operations, today took back Rs 36,000 crore from the system.

''Call rates are likely to attain stability at these levels (6.10-6.50) unless any major movements come about in the market.'', said a senior dealer to UNI.

Rupee underwent to major fluctuations during the day. It opened at 40.79/80 per dollar and went down up to 40.82 per dollar.

However, it later touched a high of 40.42 per dollar during the day before settling at 40.52 per dollar.
