Chennai, Aug 8 (UNI) BrainWave Biosolutions Limited, a services provider to pharma and biotech companies and research institutions globally, has developed ''Gene Minerva'', a text mining product.

The software tool product was aimed at helping drug discovery researchers search for hidden patterns from unstructured literature data.

Talking to reporters here today, company Chief Scientific Officer Shome Nath Mitra said Gene Minerva was developed using Natural Language Processing, base for any text mining tool to get hidden objects, and fine tuned to suit the scientists working in the areas of biology and chemistry.

Though developed for the use of life science researches, the concept could be further developed and commercialised for use in other market segments as well.

It was designed for concept mining ''on the fly'' from pubmed abstracts, including local pdf files and patents. It enabled rapid creation of databases to organise key information hidden in the scientific and medical literature.

The target customers included desktop scientists, pharma and biotech companies and research institutes focussed in drug discovery applications.

The licensing fee for the product would be 1,800 US Dollars per year and the company was targetting to have 2,000 desktop scientists as customers in the next two years.
