Bangladesh to request India drop 450 items from sensitive list

Dhaka, Aug 8 (UNI) Bangladesh will request India to drop from its sensitive list 450 products of Bangladesh's export interest on non-reciprocal basis to derive trade benefit out of Indian Prime Minister Manmohon Singh's assurance.

An inter-ministerial meeting at the Ministry of Commerce today finalised the products to create ground for the duty-free access of the products into Indian market.

The Bangladesh Foreign Ministry would communicate it to the Indian authorities Dhaka's desire to get dropped the products from the Indian sensitive list that restrict duty-free export of the products from Bangladesh and other LDCs in SAARC.

At the 14th SAARC Summit in India in April this year, the Prime Minister had assured the SAARC LDC of granting duty-free access of their products and downsizing their sensitive list in the LDCs favour.

The Indian sensitive list has got 744 products from the SAARC LDCs.
