Puri, Aug 8 (UNI) The Army headquarters has been working out modalities for introduction of 'optical mark reader' to reduce the time in selection of candidates for recruitment, Brigadier R S Nehra, Deputy Director General of recruitments for Orissa, West Bengal and Sikkim said.

Brigadier Nehra, who was here to conduct the Army recruitment, told newspersons that application of modern electronic systems had curbed unfair practices in the recruitment process and brought transparency.

With the help of computers it could be possible to handle 4,000 to 4,500 candidates in a single day and duration in selection process had also been drastically reduced from 60-90 days to 20 days, he said.

The Information Technology had also brought more transparency into the selection of candidates. The use of electronic web cameras, wireless net working, biometric figure printing identification check and the scanners had ruled out impersonation, cheating and malpractices in the recruitment process, he remarked.

Besides three days of selection, another day was being kept to address grievances and queries of the candidates. Effort was on to make the recruitment process more candidate-friendly and less time consuming, Brigadier Nehra said.
