Amarnath yatra resumes after two days
Srinagar, Aug 8: The Amarnath yatra, which was suspended due to heavy rains for the past two days, resumed this morning following improvement in weather conditions.
Amarnath yatra official spokesman told sources that pilgrims were stranded at various places, moving towards their respective destination today.
He said more then 1500 pilgrims were stranded at Baltal base camp who had left cave this morning.
Similarly, the pilgrims at Phalgam Nunwan base camp, too, have been stranded on the way towards the cave shrine.
The pilgrims, who were stranded at different halting stations, have also left towards their respective destinations.
The yatra was suspended on August 5 following heavy rains, making the tracks on both sides slippery. So for, more than 2.45 lakh pilgrims from across the country have visited the shrine.
Official sources said 35 yatris have died since the commencement of the two-month-long annual yatra.
