Women should fight against domestic violence: Renuka
Gudur, Aug 7 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Women and Child Welfare Renuka Chowdary today asked women to fight against domestic violence and seek protection from Domestic Violence Act(DVA), if they were being harassed by their family members.
The minister while inaugurating the five-day Public Information Campaign of Press Information Bureau(PIB) and other media units of Information and Broadcasting(IB) here, said the Union Government were implementing 'National Rural Health Mission'(NRHM), Janani Suuraksha Yojana, among other schemes for the welfare of women.
Ms Chowdary said women should realise the importance of nutritious food and immunisation for their children. Women should attach top priority for brest feeding, she added.
She advised the women to provide better health and eduction fcilities for their children. Women should utilise the modern health- care facilities provided by the Government to save their infants, she added.
The minister said the Government was initiating steps to protect girl children.
Panabaka Lakshmi, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare said on the lines of NRHM, the Central Government was making efforts to introduce National Urban Health Mission(NUHM) to serve the urban poor, too.
