UPPCL GM commits suicide in his office
Lucknow, Aug 7(UNI) Suicides from high-rise buildings in the Uttar Pradesh capital continued unabated with a senior official of the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited(UPPCL) having jumped from the fourth floor of the Shakti Bhawan today.
UPPCL General Manager Brijesh Kumar Agarwal, who was recently promoted to the post, jumped from his chamber situated at the fourth floor, police said here.
''Depression is said to be the main reason for the official to take such a nasty step,'' said UP Power Employees Union convernor Shailendra Dubey.
Meanwhile, the ongoing demonstration near the gate of the Shakti Bhawan against privatisation of Anpara C power project has been called off for the day due to the suicide.
Earlier on Sunday night, a person jumped from the sixth floor of the LaPlace high-rise while on July 23, a couple and a woman jumped from the ninth floor of the OCR building.
