Gwalior Utsav to boost tourism in MP
Gwalior, Aug 7: In a bid to promote tourism in northern Madhya Pradesh, a travel mart would be organised here on September 29-30 by bringing all hotel directors, travel agents and other concerned people from tourism industry on one platform.
This was informed by Madhya Pradesh State Development Corporation (MPSTDC) Chairman Dhurvnaryan Singh, MPSTDC Managing Director Ashwini Lohani and local MP Yashodhara Raje Scindia to reporters here today.
A sculpture fair would also be organised between October 1-10 on the lines of famous Surajkund's fair. Sculptors from Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh would take part in the function.
Besides, 'Gwalior Utsav' will also be organised from October 5-7.
Famous daners Mallika Sarokayi and Rajradha Reddy would render their performance during the festival.
Mr Singh said the Centre has approved Rs 2.10 crore for development of tourist spots in Mitawali, Padhawali and Batesar. An amount of Rs three crore was sanctioned to develop tourist spots in Shivpuri.
He said five tourist hubs - Gwalior, Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur and Satna - have been identified for boosting tourism in the state.
Besides convenient transport system is also being developed to reach these hubs.
Mr Singh said efforts are also on cards to promote medical tourism in the state.
Jayarogya Hospital - spread over 70 acres with historical buildings - is being developed as a hub for medical tourism, said Ms Raje.
Proposal to set up an Ayurveda hospital is also on cards, said Mr Singh.
