Rupee ends flat at 40.41.42 per dollar
Mumbai, Aug 7: The Rupee today ended flat at 40.41/42 per dollar compared to the last close of 40.40/41.
The unit, which opened stronger at 40.35/36 per dollar, stood correlated with the movements in bourses most part of the day.
The Rupee opened at 40.35/36 per dollar in morning, and later went down to a day's low of 40.44 per dollar. Dealers said corporates, mainly oil companies were seen in market buying dollars.
Reserve Bank, through the reverse repo window, today accepted Rs 42,000 crore from the system, said dealers.
Forward premia was quoted lower today. Three months premia ended at 1.55, six-month premia at 1.63(1.71) per cent while one year premia ended at 1.73(1.78) per cent.
Rupee today performed weaker against major world currencies.
Against Euro it ended weaker at 55.68(55.56/57) per unit, Pound Sterling at 82.13(81.67/68) per unit while Japanese Yen was quoted at 34.05(34.10) per hundred units each.
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has fixed the reference rate at Rs 40.37 per US dollar, up by eight paise, compared to its yesterday's rate of Rs 40.45 per dollar.
