JK: Revenue Official challaned for taking bribe
Srinagar, Aug 7: Jammu and Kashmir State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) has produced a challan in a local court against a senior government official for demanding and accepting a bribe.
A SVO spokesman said one Mohammad Ramzan Bhat resident of Gogu in the central Kashmir, Budgam, lodged a written complaint with the organisation alleging that his file regarding providing of a path to his residential house was pending in Deputy Commissioners office in Budgam.
He said the concerned official Ghulam Mehdi Pandit, Senior Assistant was demanding Rs 5,000 as a bribe for processing the file.
Later, Pandit was caught red handed by SVO officials, while accepting Rs 3000 as illegal gratification in presence of independent witness.
The tainted money was recovered from his possession.
After completion of the investigation of the case and accord of sanction for prosecution by the government, the challan of case alongwith the accused was produced in the court.
