Punjab govt releases grant for aided schools
Chandigarh, Aug 7 (UNI) The Punjab Government today released Rs 120 crore as grant-in-aid for the financial year 2007-08 to the government aided schools in the state to pay the salaries of the staff.
The amount will be utilised for paying the salaries of over 10,000 teaching and non-teaching staff of 483 aided schools, Education Minister Upinderjit Kaur here today stated.
An official spokesman clarified that there was no financial constraint to pay the salaries but this delay was caused due to some technical reasons. He assured that this inordinate delay would not become a practice in future.
