Parents association serves notice on HPSEB
Dharamshala, Aug 7 (UNI) A parent association in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh today served a legal notice on HP Board of School Education (HPSEB) Chairman and Secretary for cancelling the examination centre at Government Senior Secondary School at Bagli last year.
The HPSEB had cancelled the centre in 2006 alleging mass copying in the centre during Class ten Mathematics paper, which was later held at Dharamshala, association president AB Rajbansh said here.
He said after the Board cancelled the centre, 700 students studying in different classes in four private schools and one government school were forced to take their examinations in Government Senior Secondary School at Mandal, which was quite far away from Bagli.
Terming the cancellation of the center as ''illegal'', he asked the Board to reestablish it within seven days, failing which the association would move the court against its decision.
Reacting to the association's demand, the Chairman said mass copying was taking place at the centre when the Board secretary raided the centre in 2006.
He said the Board was not interested in putting students and their parents to inconvenience but copying would not be tolerated at any cost.
The Board would take a decision on granting it the status of centre again after reviewing its performance in March, early this year, he said.
Mr Rahi said a meeting of the board officials would be held next month where a decision on the centres would be taken.
