NALCO to support training for displaced families
Bhubaneswar, Aug 07 (UNI) The National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) has sponsored 83 students for industrial training in the state-run ITIs for the academic year 2007-08.
An agreement in this regard had been signed with the Director of Technical Education, Orissa, in which the NALCO would contribute Rs 35 lakh for fully-funded training of the students belonging to the land displaced families at Angul.
So far NALCO had sponsored 461 wards of such displaced families, out of which 425 had been provided with employment and absorbed in the company's rolls.
NALCO sources said 630 families in 51 villages were displaced for setting up plants both at Angul and Damanjodi.
While 596 families were displaced in Damanjodi sector, 34 families were affected in Angul sector.
This apart, 1473 families were substantially affected for parting with one third or more land in Angul sector, while no family was affected as such in Damanjodi sector.
