Mullana takes over as Haryana Cong chief
Chandigarh, Aug 7 (UNI) Former Haryana Education Minister and Dalit leader Phool Chand Mullana today took over as the state Congress president, a post which was lying vacant ever since disgruntled party leader Bhajan Lal resigned about a year ago.
Mr Kuldeep Sharma took over as the working Haryana Congress president, replacing Dr Ram Prakash who was recently elected as a Rajya Sabha member.
After the installation ceremony at a massive gathering here, Mr Mullana said he would act like a bridge between the people and the government and try to give proper representation to the Dalit voice in the state.
He said he would ensure that the state officials attend the party workers with respect and honour.
AICC general secretary Janardan Dwivedi expressed the hope that the new team would infuse harmony in the state Congress unit. He urged the party leaders to stay united under the new leadership.
He asked both the president and the working president to be available in the state party office on every Tuesday so that workers could meet them.
