Naga: Mokokchung tense over AASU threat
Kohima, Aug 7: Against the backdrop of All Assam Students' Union(AASU) threat to destroy Nagaland police check gate at Tsutapela tomorrow, the district administration has beefed up the security.
Mokokchung Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abhisek Singh in a meeting at Chungitayimsen yesterday, assured the people of Taurangkong Ranje village that the administration and police were taking all measures to thwart the entry of unauthorised persons into the district.
Mr Singh said security at the check gate near Mariani border under Jorhat district in Assam had been tightened.
Mr Singh asked the DC and the superintendent of police of Jorhat district to ensure that no one should be allowed to enter Nagaland without permission.
He also cautioned that anyone entering Nagaland without Inner Line Permit (ILP) would be arrested.
Meanwhile, the Ao Senthen (Hoho) called a public meeting today and appealed them to be prepared to face threat.
The people of Tzurangkong had already imposed curfew in the entire area from evening yesterday prohibiting entry of outsiders and movement of vehicles.
