IT exports from Karnataka cross Rs 50,000 crore mark
Bangalore, Aug 7 (UNI) IT Software and Hardware exports from Karnataka crossed the Rs 50,000 crore mark in 2006-07 to touch Rs 51,650 crore.
In 2005-06 SW and HW exports from the state were Rs 40,281 crore.
Accoding to final figures relesed by the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), Software exports grew by 30 per cent to touch Rs 48,700 crore in 2006-07, as against Rs 37,600 crore in the previous fiscal, while Hardware exports grew by ten per cent to earn Rs 2950 crore as against Rs 2481 crore acheived in 2005-06.
As on March 31, the total number of STPI units approved in the State stood at 1883, registering a ten per cent increase over the previous year's cumulative mark of 1721 units. During last year 11 new Electronic and hardware technology parks were approved taking the total number of approvals to 62.
The state also witnessed a seven per cent surge in investment proposals received at Rs 3,050 crore last year, as against Rs 2850 crore worth proposals received in 2005-06, according to sources in the Karnataka IT department.
