Diarrhoea scare in Sakhigopal;50 hospitalised
Puri, Aug 7 (UNI) Over 50 people in Hiranpur village under the Sakhigopal police station were hospitalised with symptoms of diarrhoea within 24 hours of incessant rain, which lashed the coastal village for the past two days.
While several villagers were being treated in the infectious diseases hospital at Puri, others were admitted in the Sakhgopal hospital.
Considering the gravity of the situation, a team of medicos, led by Puri Chief District Medical Officer(CDMO) Trilochan Boral and Assistant District Medical Officer(ADMO) Bijay Das, visited the village and ensured preventive measures to control the spread of the dreaded disease.
The team warned the villagers against using the pond water for drinking and advised them to take water from the two borewells located inside the village.
Halogen tablets were distributed among the villagers to purify drinking water, the CDMO said.
