Pondy: CPI cadres stage demo to press demands
Puducherry, Aug 7: Volunteers of the Communist Party of India (CPI) today staged demonstrations at eight centers here to condemn the administration's failure to implement the schemes even after one year of announcement.
The agitation was also to press the government to prevent conversion of fertile lands into housing plots and demanding an open debate on the Value Added Tax.
CPI state secretary Na Ra Kalainathan, MLA, led the agitation in front of the Directorate of Accounts and Treasuries here, while party national council member R Viswanathan led the volunteers in front of the Saram collectorate.
Agitations were also held at Ariyankuppam, Villianur, Bahour, Thirukkanur.
