Pondy: CM responsible for failure in free rice scheme

Puducherry, Aug 7: AIADMK state secretary A Anbazhagan, MLA, today demanded that Chief Minister N Rangasamy should own moral responsibility for his failure to continue with the free rice scheme for all in the Union Territory.

Addressing a press conference here, he pointed out that the file pertaning to free rice scheme was the first to be signed by Mr Rangasamy after he asssumed office as Chief Minister.

When Chief Minister found it difficult to continue with the scheme, he put the blame on legislators, Mr Anbazhagan said and pointed out that the legislators, irrespective of their party affiliations had sought the continuation of the scheme.

Demanding that the scheme be continued with the provision of rice to all card holders, the AIADMK leader alleged that there was widespread corruption as the rice was being purchased from other states.
