Board to take up only 8 SEZ proposals tomorrow
New Delhi, Aug 7 (UNI) Only three of the five promoters whose applications comes up for consideration by the board of approval (BoA) of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry tomorrow are in possession of land where they seek to set up special economic zones (SEZs).
The BoA is also slated to take up three requests for in-principle approvals of the SEZs.
Although Maharasthra government has cleared the proposal of Ispat Industries to set up a multi-product SEZ in Raigad district on 1,012 hectares of land, the company, however, has to yet to complete acquistion of land.
Similarly, Veritas Infrastructure Development Ltd is also sed to acquire the entire 50 hectares of land in Raigad village for setting up a biotech SEZ.
However, Infosys Technologies , which proposes to set up two information technology SEZs in Andhra Pradesh, have acquired 119.87 hectares and 60.93 hectares of land in Rangareddy district.
Promoters of Blue Vision Constructions Pvt Ltd have also got possession of 42.49 hectares for establishing an IT/ITEs SEZ in Tamil Nadu.
The three proposals listed for in-principle approval by BoA for setting up IT/ITEs SEZs have been put up by Adarsh Prime Projects Pvt Ltd in Karnataka, Enfield Infrastructure Ltd in West Bengal and by Genpact India in Rajasthan. The largest by Adarsh's would come up on 468.62 hectares of land, while those by Enfield and Genpact would be built on just 16 and 10 hectares of land respectively.
