BJYM secy murdered by uncle for alleged sexual escapades

Baripada, Aug 07 (UNI) The Baisinga police has recovered the putrefied body of missing Mayurbhanj BJP Yuva Morcha Secretary Sanghamitra Das from a pit at Chuapada village, about 48 kms from here.

Ms Das (25) was reported missing since July 17 after attending a meeting of the Yuva Morcha here.

Her father, Suresh Das, however, had filed an FIR on July 30 in this regard.

Mr Das said she had been presently staying with her uncle, Sarbeswar Das, at Chuapada village. However, she did not return to the village after attending the meeting.

Acting on a tip-off, Baisinga police arrested Sarbeswar Das, who confessed that he had beaten her to death.

''I was annoyed with her sexual escapades,'' he said.

Sarbeswar claimed that Sanghamitra also had a relationship with him adding that she had refused to listen to his warning to give up similar relationships with other men.

''As she did not relent, I beat her to death,'' Sarbeswar told the police.

Immediately after the confession, the police dug the pit and exhumed Sanghamitra's body from the backyard of Sarbeswar's house at Chuapada village on August five.

The body was sent for post-mortem and her clothes, a mobile charger, liquor bottle and footwear were also recovered, police sources said.

The Mayurbhanj BJP Yuva Morcha president alleged that a few political outfits were trying to gain mileage from this incident by throwing slur on some of the BJP functionaries. He also demanded that a high level enquiry should be made to unearth the truth and punish the culprits.
