Activists rescue 28 calves being smuggled to Kerala

Hassan, Karnataka, Aug 7 (UNI) Activists of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike today rescued 28 buffalo calves that were being allegedly smuggled to Kerala slaughtering houses from Chennarayapatna in Hassan district.

Police arrested four persons in this connection. The cattle was brought to an animal shelter near the Mysore city. However, while on transit five calves had died allegedly due to suffocation.

In a similar incident nearly 30 cattle being smuggled to Kerala was rescued recently.
