UP: 24 injured as bus overturns in Varanasi

Varanasi, Aug 7: At least 24 pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh were grievously injured after a speeding bus, in which they were travelling, turned turtle in Mirzamurad area here today.

The driver of the ill-fated bus, carrying 32 passengers, had dozed off and subsequently lost control over the wheels near village Bhikaripur.

The injured, including some women, were rushed to the district hospital, where the condition of five was stated to be critical.

According to the police, 15 buses were part of the group, carrying people from Reddy Nagar in Andhra Pradesh, who were en-route to the holy city after paying obeisance at the world famous temples in Nepal and Uttar Pradesh.
