Utah coal mine collapses, miners trapped--Fox News
WASHINGTON, Aug 6 (Reuters) A coal mine collapsed in central Utah after a 4.0 magnitude earthquake, trapping six miners, Fox News reported today.
The US Geological Survey reported a 4.0 earthquake occurred today at 2:48 a.m. (1348 IST), about 97 miles (156 km) from Salt Lake City, Utah. A magnitude 4 quake is capable of causing moderate damage.
The mine is operated by Utah American Energy, according to The Salt Lake Tribune. The newspaper said the company's office in Price, Utah, confirmed there was an unspecified incident at its Genwal mine, but released no additional information.
