Three hardcore militants nabbed in Manipur

Imphal, Aug 6: Three hardcore militants were nabbed by troops and police in two incidents during the last 24 hours.

Superintendent of Police, Imphal East, Mr Kailun said two cadres of People's United Liberation Front (PULF) were nabbed by the commandos of Imphal East police yesterday.

The two were identified as Md Majit and Md Faruk and one .12 pistol made in Bulgaria with one magazine and 4 live rounds of .32 ammunition recovered from them.

After interrogation it was found that they had joined PULF this March through one Sakim, a self-styled finance secretary. They were now trying to collect information and motivate girls to join the outfit.

They also kept a watch on the movement of security forces and were involved in extortion from the people, the SP said.

In another incident the 34 Assam Rifles nabbed a cadre of People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak(PREPAK) at NH 39 in Thoubal district. Yesterday he was handed over to the police.

One pulsar, two mobile phones and some ornaments were recovered from him and handed over to the Thoubal PS, the PRO Assam Rifles informed.
