Rupee opens at 40.50/51 against USD

Mumbai, Aug 6: Indian Rupee today opened at 40.50/51 against US dollar, weaker by almost 16 paise as compared to the previous close of 40.34/35 per dollar.

The Rupee lost ground today and a global credit squeeze has spurred investors to cut back on relatively risky assets. Investors are also expecting India's benchmark share index to trade in the negative, dealers said.
