Runner-up elected from ward number 85 in BMC

Mumbai, Aug 6 (UNI) Congressman Shaikh Mohammed Rafique Mustaffa Shaikh, who was the runner up from ward number 85 in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation election, has been named as the corporator from the ward after Samajwadi Party corporator Lalji Yadav was disqualified last month on the basis of fake caste certificate.

Additional Chief Justice of the Small Causes court M V Pokharkar today said the runner-up in ward number 85 should be declared the corporator after it was found that the winning candidate had submitted fake caste certificate.

The decision of the Shiv Sena corporators is awaited from the Supreme Court to decide on the majority in the Corporation.
