Bharti, Google tie up to provide web-based services

New Delhi, Aug 6 (UNI) Country's leading telecom player, Bharti Airtel today tied up with Internet search engine Google, to provide web-based services to its customers.

Under the agreement, Airtel will offer its broadband customers access to portal with Google search for web-based queries, Gmail with 2GB storage, spam filter and options for web access, free of cost.

It will also offer customers Google Docs and Spreadsheets so that they can share and collaborate in real time and Google talk instant messaging and chatting service.

Besides these offerings, customers will get the option to personalise their Internet start page with content of individual preference -- news, blog postings, weather and other interactive content and services.

''By offering an enhanced broadband experience to the customers powered by Google, Bharti has moved a step ahead to meet the target of meeting infotainment needs of consumer on TV, PC and mobile,'' Airtel Broadband and Telephone Services President Atul Bindal told reporters here.

Company's Director (IT and Innovation) Jai Menon said the partnership with Google will help us provide a world-class suite of services on broadband.

''The pact will help distribution of Google applications for the Airtel customers,'' Google India Managing Director Shailesh Rao said.
