State to raise additional Rs 5,000 cr funds for irrigation
Sangli, Maharashtra, Aug 5 (UNI) Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil today said the State government will soon raise additional Rs 5,000 crore funds to provide irrigation water to all drought-hit areas.
Mr Patil was speaking after inaugurating a new building of primary teachers' co-operative bank at Jat in this district.
He said The State government has already decided to raise Rs 16,500 crore to finish incomplete irrigation projects and fill the backlog in the State. Besides this, Rs 5,000 crore has been proposed as additional amount to cover drought-hit areas.
He asked the teachers to discharge their duties sincerely and develop a competent younger generation.
Maharashtra Finance Minister Jayant Patil was present on the occasion.
