Six 'Kanwarias' killed in UP

Lucknow, Aug 5 (UNI) Six 'Kanwarias,' on their way to Hardwar to bring the holy water of the Ganga river, were killed in three separate incidents at Muzaffarnagar and Bijnaur districts of Uttar Pradesh in the last 24 hours.

Four 'Kanwarias' sustained severe burn injuries after a high tension power line fell on a tractor-trolley in which they were travelling, in Mandwar area of Bijnaur today.

Bhagirath, Mukesh, Monu and Neeraj of Gahziabad district were taken to hospital, where they were declared brought dead.

In separate incidents, a 'Kanwaria' drowned while bathing in the Gang Canal at Khatauli area of Muzaffarnagar last evening, whereas Dhansingh (70) of Harayana died on the way due to a prolonged illness.
