Security beefed up across Tamil Nadu

Chennai, Aug 5 (UNI) Security has been tightened across Tamil Nadu as the Special Court in Coimbatore will begin pronouncing sentences in the 1998 serial blasts case from tomorrow.

Police sources said security had been beefed up in Coimbatore city and its suburbs to prevent any untoward incident.

Tight security would be put in place in all major cities in Tamil Nadu, including Chennai.

The special court on August one had found 153 accused guilty in the 1998 serial blasts case.

While the Special Court found Al-Umma leader S A Basha, General Secretary Md Ansari and 11 other Al-Umma activists guilty of criminal conspiracy, Kerala-based PDP leader Abdul Nasser Madhani was acquitted of all the charges, including conspiracy and was released on bail.
