Over 2 lakh immunized in Pulse Polio campaign in Haryana
Chandigarh, Aug 5 (UNI) About 2.30 lakh children, below the age of five years have been covered in Haryana under the Special Sub-National Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) for migratory population on first day of the campaign today.
While stating this today, Health Minister Kartar Devi said that under this programme approximately 6.13 lakh children of migratory families would be covered during the three day campaign.
Under this campaign, the teams would go from house-to-house for administer polio drops.
The Minister said that special attention was being paid to those residing in slums, far-flung areas, isolated hutments, brick kilns and also the floating and migratory population in the industrial areas. She said that with every successive round of Pulse Polio Immunization, the areas of poliovirus circulation get reduced.
She said that with a view to ensure quality immunization coverage, 5200 trained health officials, volunteers, Anganwadi Workers and Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) have been pressed into service. Apart from nodal officers from the state headquarters and independent monitors of Pt B D Sharma Post-graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Rohtak, about 550 officials supervised the campaign.
