No compromise on J

Bhubaneswar, Aug 5 (UNI) BJP President Rajnath Singh today cautioned the UPA government not to compromise on the internal security of Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing a news conference here, Mr Singh said the internal chaos and lawlessness in Pakistan would lead to terrorist activities and infiltration across the border.

''At this juncture, any attempt to compromise the internal security of Jammu and Kashmir would be disastrous'', the BJP President said alleging that the UPA, to save its government in Jammu and Kashmir, was succumbing to the pressure of the PDP there to withdraw troops from the state.

The BJP would never allow any withdrawal of the troops from Jammu and Kashmir, he asserted.

Mr Singh said it was most unfortunate that nearly 30,000 workers had already left Jammu and Kashmir.

The BJP president came down heavily on the UPA government for its failure to tackle the naxal menace in the country. He said more than 174 districts in 15 states had been affected by naxalite violence but the UPA government had miserably failed to chalk out any integrated strategy to counter the naxal menace.

Mr Singh demanded that the naxalite-affected states be given special development package and para-military assistance to handle the left wing ultras more effectively.
