Shillong, Aug 05 (UNI) Challenging the All Assam Madrassa Student Association's (AAMSA),'fatwa', the North East Students' Organisation (NESO) has decided to attend a conference in Assam's Hailakandi district on August 9.

Sources here today said AAMSA had issued a 'fatwa' barring NESO chairman Samujjal Bhattacharya to enter Hailakandi protesting against the alleged forcible deportation of illegal migrants from Bangladesh, Assam and other NE states.

''We condemn the fatwa against our leader. It is against the spirit and identity of the indigenous people,'' NESO secretary general Gumjum Haider told reporters here yesterday.

''Assam is my motherland and I can go anywhere. They have no right to stop me,'' the NESO chairman said.
