Mamata calls protest rally at Singur on August 8

Singur, Aug 5 (UNI) Coinciding the CITU's all India strike in the unorganised sector, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee today announced taking out a protest march of agricultural workers in Singur on August eight while giving a fresh call for an intense movement against the Tata Motors' small car project.

Asserting that the Left Front Government would be forced to give back land to the farmers, she told a rally at Dobabi village that the Tatas would never be allowed to set up the factory.

''One day the Government will be compelled to return the land. The Tatas who had to retreat from several areas of the country including Kalinganagar will also be forced to pack up their baggages from Singur under the pressure of the people,'' she said.

Charging the CPI(M) with playing a double role over Khammam in Andhra Pradesh and Singur and Nandigram in the Marxist rule state, Ms Banerjee alleged the farmers were dying in starvation because of land acquisition.

''I call upon the party workers to build up movements where ever in the state attempts are being made to acquire the agricultural land. We shall also intensify the movement in Singur until our demands are met'' she said.
