Fake foreign coins unit busted, proprietor held

Lucknow, Aug 5 (UNI) Police today unearthed a counterfeit foreign coins manufacturing unit and arrested one person in the chowk area here today.

On being tipped-off, a raid was conducted at Ram Babu's residence at Sarai Mali Khan, where fake foreign coins were used to be manufactured by using gold, silver and brass coins and biscuits.

Over 250 cast of coins used in prominent countries, including China, Saudi Arab, Australia, South Africa, Japan, Korea and Britain were recovered from the spot.

On interrogation, Ram Babu confessed to being involved in this illicit business since last 10 years, for which he used to hire counterfeiters from Nepal.

According to police, the accused had already served imprisonment on charges of Rs one crore 'ashtadhatu' idol burglary in Unnao.

A manhunt has been launched to nab his aides.
