Employees on stir for pay hike

Chennai, Aug 5 (UNI) Members of the Tamil Nadu Fair Price Shop Employees Association observed a day's fast today to press their demands.

Association State President S Sakthivel, who led the agitation demanded that the government provide, among other things, equal pay for them on par with the employees of the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation-run fair price shops, separate directorate for the administration of Fair Price Shops and pension.

Pattali Makkal Katchi President G K Mani, MLA, Congress Legislative Party leader Sudharshanam, Dalit Panthers of India Joint General Secretary Selvaperunthagai, MLA, and others addressed the protesters.
