CM assures slum dwellers rehabilitation

New Delhi, Aug 5 (UNI) Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today said the Government would rehabilitate poor and slums dwellers in multi-storey houses.

''For the purpose, a new Plan Scheme named 'Financial Assistance to Multi-purpose Cooperative Societies' has been launched,'' Ms Dikshit said after visiting Dilshad Colony JJ Clusters as part of the 'Sanjha Prayas' initiative.

'Sanjha Prayas' is an initiative of the Bhagidari Programme for the slums dewellers with the objective of engaging communities in the process of identifying and prioritizing problems and developing community level action plan.

Ms Dikshit assured the JJ dwellers that her government would ensure that easy loans are available for the flats which would be located in well-developed areas with schools, dispensaries, shops and hospitals.

''The government would ensure that JJ dwellers are provided with all amenities including transport so that poor people may not face difficulties and accept their new localities as their permanent place,'' she added.

Meanwhile, Ms Sheila Dikshit today inaugurated the 'Sadbhawana Kanwaria Camp at Jafrabad in East Delhi.

Terming the camp as a unique example of Hindu-Muslim unity and cultural synthesis, she stressed that such camps should be organised in other areas of the capital as well.
