Centre mulls sanctioning 100 more textile parks
Erode, Aug 5 (UNI) The Centre is contemplating to sanction 100 more integrated textile parks in the country, Union Textiles Minister E V K S Elangovan said today.
Talking to newspersons, after inspecting the site for setting up an integrated textile park here, he said the Centre had so far sanctioned 30 integrated textile parks, out of which five would be set up in Tamil Nadu.
He said the Centre had sanctioned Rs 20 crore as subsidy for the park here, coming up at 40 acres of land.
He said the park would provide direct employment to 5000 and indirect employment to 3000 people.
Tamil Nadu Handloom Minister N K K P Raja said in the first phase integrated textile parks would be set up at Madurai, Karur, Komarapalayam, Palladam and Andipatty.
Regarding power concession to the textile parks, he said the Handloom Secretary had written to the electricity department to look into the issue.
He said 50 per cent concession would be given to the parks on stamp duty during the time of registration.
