TN: Centre for training young scientists set up

Chennai, Aug 5: An International Centre for Excellence in Research laboratory (ICER) is set up here on the premises of the Tuberculosis Research Centre to train young scientists.

The Centre, set up in collaboration with the National Institutes of Health, US, would foster research in immunology and infectious diseases and focus on training young professionals in frontier areas of bio-technology, ICER officials said today.

Young scientists from across the country would be trained and the work carried on in these labs would lead to development of new vaccines and other therapeutic measures, officials added.
