Authorities ask people to move to safer places
Bangalore, Aug 5: People living in the downstream of Linganamakki dam across Sharavati have been asked by the authorities to move to safer places as surplus water would be released anytime from the dam, which was nearing the danger mark.
An official release stated here today, the authorities had issued the third and final warning to the people to move to safer places, in view of heavy inflow into the dam, following heavy rains in the catchment areas.
"The water level in dam continued to rise with the inflow of 65,000 cusecs. The level touched 1,812 ft against the maximum level of 1,819 ft," it said, adding that the water would be released anytime for the safety of the dam.
