UP govt institutes Chief Minister Police Medal
Lucknow, Aug 4 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government today announced to award Chief Minister Police medal for outstanding performance to police personnel during the Independence Day celebrations.
A decision to thsi effect was taken by the state cabinet which met here yesterday.
According to an official release, maximum of three people per year would be given this award which will include an 18 carat, 30 gram gold medal worth Rs 25,000 and a cash of Rs 25,000.
The government has already set up a high level five-member committee headed by Principal Secretary (home) to select the awardee. Other members of the committee are the DGP, ADG (Fire Services), ADG (administration) and Secretary (Home).
The team of the Special Task Force (STF) particularly its SSP Amitabh Yash is expected to be selected for the new police award. The STF has to its credit the encounter of dreaded dacoit Dadua last month.
